Just got an email from a friend back in Uganda. The girl that I was living with in Uganda had to fly home two days ago because she’s really ill, but this meant that she left a load of stuff at the house, including a lot of medication that she still needs. Our friends who live near us went to go get the rest of her stuff to give back to her, and someone’s been in and taken everything. That someone being the guy who was supposed to be “looking after us” while we were staying there. We had stuff stolen from us when we stayed there but we didn’t know exacty who it was. So angry right now. In other news, I just single-handedly blew up a paddling pool. My head hurts.

By the by, I also bought six pineapples and fourteen mangoes today. For less than £2. Great deal…but I dunno what I’m gonna do. I can’t eat them all.

So I’m just back from safari up in Murchison Falls National Park.
I saw lots of cool animals like lions and elephants and crocodiles, and got lots of pictures. Naturally, I’m currently attempting to upload a picture of a stick insect to facebook. He was great.

The weather’s abysmal at the minute and it’s apparently now the beginning of the Heavy Wet Season. According to the people in my village, it’s likely to rain up to eight hours a day. Every day. For three months. Wonderful. However, at least it’s cold!

The amount of drama and other such bullshit that’s going on back home at the minute is beyond ridiculous. Makes me happy to be in Africa and away from Dundee! But only a little - I’m still looking forward to going back. Three months left, bitchez! Second term at school went ridiculously quickly, and it feels like it still hasn’t started…even though it’ll be over in a week. The rest of the volunteers are (bar two) are off now, and some are already on their way to Burundi, and some others are joining them at some point over the next week. I’m quite…jealous. Two of the guys are going to Zanzibar for a week, and I really want to go buuuut I’m working at an orphanage in the second week of the holidays so I wouldn’t be able to travel down to Burundi and beyond with them. However, I do have some nice plans for the month, so I guess it’s fine. I’m away to Murchison Falls next Monday to do a game drive, a boat cruise, a walk up the falls and then go rhino tracking. The next three months are going to fly by, and I don’t really know if I want to go back home. I mean, I hate the project so I’m looking forward to leaving it, but I’m not looking forward to leaving Uganda. Plus, I really can’t be arsed with twats being…twats at home. I mean that in a lovely way though. Anyway, I should have buggered off back to the village over an hour ago, so I should make a move soon or else I’ll be leaving in the dark, which is no fun really.

I’ve read forty two books since I came to Uganda.

It’s about to rain horrendously hard.
So I’ll make this quick. STILL in Kampala, and I’m now here illegally and the immigration office have my passport. I’m hungover to fuck, and had to make my boda-boda guy pull over this morning so that I could spew at the side of the road. Classy. I had a phonecall from my country rep, and she said some things to me that have me really…unsettled. I’m not sure what to do at the minute. People are doing my head in, and I’m irritating them, too. I’m blaming Kampala for now - I never seem to have a completely enjoyable time in Kampala. I’m now away back to the village, provided that we get away before the heavens open and flood the place. I really don’t want to go back, to be quite honest. I don’t know when I’ll next be on. try not to miss me too much, eh?

Beth. 19. Dundee.
I love people and I hate people. Just for a night of moonlight, And just for a month of spring, While the rivers roared And the snows still lay thick...
